Your Child’s Journey at The Lodge

The Baby Room: 4 months to almost 2 years

Building strong bonds is so important to the children’s welfare and our team work hard to ensure that babies feel connected as soon as they start with us. After a baby has settled and is prepared for their first day, we pride ourselves on ensuring that each key person spends quality time bonding with their new babies.

This ensures our Little Lodgers feel part of our family and are comfortable within our care. Once a baby is fully settled into the room, our team begins to learn more about their likes and dislikes as they start to plant the first seeds to help them grow and flourish.

Rising 2s: From almost 2 until they’re ready for the Over 2s room

The Rising 2s room supports each Little Lodger with their transition into the Over 2s room. Our team ensure that each child has been given the chance to explore new opportunities that promote independence and choices. They challenge and support our Little Lodgers to boost their self-esteem.

Staff in this room support our Little Lodgers through many development milestones including potty training, dressing and undressing themselves, sitting for longer periods, small cooking activities, feeding themselves and using natural resources like glass/ceramic china sets.

The Little Lodgers in the Rising 2 room often join the Over 2s’ adventures and activities – both indoors and outdoors. This introduces the Rising 2 children to their new friends in the Over 2s room and familiarises them with their new, bigger surroundings. Little Lodgers will only transition to Over 2s when they’re ready. Timing is key: it’s essential for us to carefully prepare our children for what comes next and not to rush this process.

Over 2s: Where our Little Lodgers stay until Big School

Our Little Lodgers stay in the Over 2s room until they’re ready for school. We support them to become independent: they build friendships, learn to respect each other, and develop confidence as we prepare them for the next phase.

The children are continuously nurtured throughout their time at The Lodge as we work and build on their own understanding of emotions, likes and dislikes. We encourage them to openly sharing their thoughts and opinions. Staff within this room pride themselves on allowing our Little Lodgers to be curious and explore – we allow the children to lead us through their play.
